About Environment America
Environment America is a federation of state-based, citizen-funded environmental advocacy organizations. Our professional staff across the nation and in Washington, D.C., combines independent research, practical ideas, community outreach and organizing and tough-minded advocacy to overcome the opposition of powerful special interests and win real results for the environment. Environment America draws on over 30 years of success in tackling environmental problems.Action in the states
Environment America, with state environment groups as affiliates in 29 states, advocates for protection of our air, water and open spaces. In 2011, Environment New Jersey, Environment Maine and Environment New Hampshire defended the progress we’ve made on clean energy and global warming; PennEnvironment, Environment New York and Environment Ohio stood up to industry’s push to expand fracking; Environment Arizona, Environment Texas, Environment Ohio and Environment Missouri fought to spare state parks from funding cuts and closures; and Environment California, Environment Oregon and Environment Washington helped persuade communities to ban the disposable plastic bags that are polluting the Pacific and harming ocean wildlife.
