Creative Team Intern

Overview

Do you want to use your excellent communication skills and creative talents to make an impact on the issues you care about? The Creative Team for The Public Interest Network is looking for a talented candidate to join our team as a Creative Team Intern.

We focus on issues that affect the quality of our lives -- issues like clean energy, clean water and public health. We’re strategic in our approach and place a premium on making a difference. We’re passionate about building the support we need to win.

To build the people power it takes to overcome powerful special interests and fix the urgent problems we’re facing as a society, from global warming to the overuse of antibiotics on factory farms, we need to reach the public. And to do that, we need to tell our story in a way that connects with people—intellectually, emotionally, politically—and motivates them to join the fight for a better world.

Our interns work side by side with our talented team of writers and designers to help figure out where the public is at on an issue, then craft a message that will grab your audience’s attention and incite them to act. You’ll learn how to express that message through a number of different mediums, including social media, email, newsletters, direct mailings, campaign materials, websites, and more.

This is not a coffee-grabbing, photocopy-making internship.

Instead you’ll:

If based in Boston or Portland, Ore.:

  • Assist with the writing, editing, and proofreading of emails, newsletters, annual reports and campaign materials.
  • Assist with designing email graphics, newsletters, annual reports and campaign materials.
  • Develop content and execute ideas for social media campaigns and memes.
  • Find the perfect image that will get thousands of people to take action on a campaign.

If based in Philadelphia:

  • Work with our Video Specialist to create social media videos that reach tens of thousands of people.

If you’re thinking you might want to make a career out of using your communication and design skills to help solve problems like global warming or the flood of corporate money in our democracy—interning with the Creative Team for The Public Interest Network is one of the best ways to get started. Not only will you get the training and experience you need, but we’ll consider our most talented and committed interns for positions on our team once they graduate.
