The Executive Office of The Public Interest Network seeks an Assistant. We are looking for a smart, committed, and detail-oriented candidate to join our team to assist the President and Vice Presidents in managing the daily operations of the organization and in long-term planning.
The Public Interest Network operates and supports more than a dozen nonprofit advocacy groups, all working toward a greener and healthier country. Our organizations include PIRG, which advocates for consumers and the public interest; Environment America, which promotes policies and action that make the world a greener and healthier place; and the National Environmental Law Center, which takes legal action against companies that violate clean air and water laws. Combined, these organizations have more than 400 staff.
Our bottom line is: We want to help as many people make a positive difference in the world as possible.
To accomplish this, each of our organizations runs multiple programs, campaigns and projects. For example, take PIRG’s campaign to bring our country’s infrastructure into the 21st century: working to electrify vehicles from school buses to mail trucks while building a nationwide network of charging stations. Or Environment America’s drive to win 100 percent renewable energy across the country, from college campuses to cities, from California to Pennsylvania.
We take a principled, pragmatic approach to meet these challenges. We build organizations and run campaigns that connect big ideas to concrete policy changes that improve the quality of our environment and people’s lives. We’re transpartisan — we want to reach everyone who might agree with us from across the political spectrum. We value dialogue over polarization. We invest in people and strategies that deliver results — we are advocates, lobbyists, campaigners, litigators, policy researchers and grassroots organizers. No matter how big the challenge, we know how to break down problems to a manageable size, set ambitious but achievable goals, and work hard to win and build the resources we need to win the next campaign.
Making a difference in people’s lives on these issues requires strong organizations that can mobilize the right combination of information, persuasion and people power. That’s where our Executive Assistant comes in. In order to achieve these results, the groups in The Public Interest Network need a strong backup staff to provide the resources, guidance, and infrastructure it takes to make progress on these issues. If our vision for a better world excites you then we hope you will apply.
