Statement: Draft COP26 agreement would accelerate global climate action, but firm deadlines are needed

With world leaders in Glasgow for the COP26 climate summit, the United Nations climate agency on Wednesday released a draft of an agreement that urges participating nations to accelerate the pace of global climate action. It calls on countries to phase out coal and end subsidies for oil and gas.

The Environmental Protection Agency proposed new draft rules Tuesday that, if adopted, would drastically reduce methane emissions. The regulations, one covering existing wells and the other covering new wells, are part of a comprehensive new Methane Emissions Reduction Action Plan.

Statement: Clean energy tax provisions could cut power sector emissions more than 60%

WASHINGTON -- The House Ways and Means Committee is debating legislation that could cut power sector emissions to between 64% and 73% below 2005 levels by 2031. Under the Build Back Better Act, tax incentives for such clean technologies as wind and solar, energy efficiency, and electric vehicles would be updated and extended through the end of the decade.

A bipartisan group of senators met Tuesday afternoon to prepare for a vote planned Wednesday on a $1.2 trillion Bipartisan Infrastructure Framework that aims to boost federal investment in U.S. infrastructure, including billions for roads, clean water and power infrastructure, according to media reports.

Statement: House passes landmark water and transportation bill to restore and enhance U.S. infrastructure

The U.S. House of Representatives passed a legislative package on Thursday that would improve water infrastructure, protect drinking water, and repair and expand our transportation system.  The package combined several bills, including the Water Quality Protection and Job Creation Act of 2021 and the AQUA Act, under the umbrella of the INVEST in America Act.
