On the heels of another year riddled with climate catastrophes, Environment California and hundreds of supporters met virtually with decision-makers to urge stronger, swifter action.
On March 1, Environment California joined coalition partner CALPIRG Students in a virtual Climate Lobby Day. The nearly 300 supporters, coalition partners and student attendees held more than 70 lobby meetings with key state legislators to support clean energy bills and recruit new “California Voices for 100%” — our campaign to achieve 100 percent clean energy by 2035. In addition to lobby meetings, the lobby day included a panel on solar energy and clean transportation.
“In order to avoid the worst consequences of climate change, we must transition to clean, renewable energy,” said Laura Deehan, Environment California state director. “It’s so encouraging to be able to bring students, activists and volunteers from across the state together to champion California’s acceleration to 100 percent renewable energy.”
Environment California will continue working with key decision-makers to champion clean energy legislation.
